One of the most exiting new features in MOS 4.5 is the Content Section. The new Content Section replaces the existing news, articles and FAQ items and adds a lot extra power. Here is a detailed overview how this section will work:

Add & Edit Sections

First of all we must understand what a section is. The content of a section is pretty much the same as the overview screen of the news or faq in the old MOS. It has a small section name, an image and a small description. While this data was hardcoded in the old version it can now easily be edited. This looks like the following screen:

Absolutely new is the possibility to add your own sections. Administrators now easily can add new sections to MOS like reviews or product catalogs. Mambo handles all the rest for you. After you made a new section it will not even appear in the list, it will also appear in the admin menu where you can choose categories and items for your new section.

Categories

After you have add a new section to MOS you have to create one or more categories, which will hold the content of this section. This can be done from the following categorie overview screen:

Every category has it's own title, image, access level and description. It can be entered in the following screen. After you add some categories to your section, it's now time to enter some real content, the items.

Items

The real content pages embedded into sections / categories are called items. The item overview screen is similar to the old news overview screen. You can un-/publish, un-/archive, add, edit and delete content items. You can search item, change the number of displayed item and select a specific categorie to be shown.

If you edit or add an item you will come to another screen which will let you enter tons of imformation about the item. A detailed description of the possibilities on this page are presented in another article.
