Mambo and You

When did you get in contact with Mambo?
In February of 2003, I was starting a website with some friends called StupidSciFi.com. I was just doing it with standard HTML, and I decided very quickly that I needed a better way to manage the content. I went searching for a CMS, and read about a ton of them. I liked what I read about Mambo 4.0, and gave it a try. It was my first time working with PHP or anything, and my first CMS...I guess I was lucky, because I picked the BEST ONE on my first try! ;) I began posting in the forum, with a bunch of Newbie questions, and quickly figured things out. Then, I started to go into the code and tweak bits here and there...about a month later, I find that I am able to answer questions for people in the forum...I am still not sure what happened after that! ;)

What is your current role in the Mambo community?
I pretty much do the best I can at answering questions in the forum at Mamboserver.com and I also develop some components and add-ons that I feel are needed by the community.

Do you have any Mambo projects beside the above?
Oh yes...I have my site JasonMurphy.net where I keep all my Mambo goodies. StupidScifi.com is still running 4.0.14 Mambo, but is working great...may be updated in the near future! I also get hired to do custom development for Mambo users, and am always working on a few cool Mambo projects!

What are you doing, when you are not working for Mambo?
I do a bunch of different things! Of course, I do web design and Mambo development...but I also have a small Video Production company on the side. Most of my work however is made up of jobs in the Entertainment field... I used to teach and perform Puppetry for Walt Disney World, and have also worked on a few Jim Henson projects. Over the summers, I am generally pretty busy between doing Traveling Shows for a large Children's Cable Network, and producing Entertainment events at Tradeshows & Conventions. I know...not the answer you expected huh?

About Mambo

What is Mambo's biggest advantage against other CMS?
Well, for one...it is AWESOME! ;) Robert, and the Development team have done a great job turning Mambo into an extremely user-friendly, super-functional Content Manager. One of the best features is the template system...it allows you to make your site look exactly how YOU want it!

And the biggest disadvantage?
Currently, the biggest disadvantage is the lack of completed Documentation... We have a great team of users working on this, so that should be changed in the near future.

Where do you see Mambo in the future?
Mambo is growing soo fast, and it is getting better with every release! Who knows where it will go...

Your final word to the community?
The community of Mambo users and Developers is one of the most giving and friendly groups I have ever been involved in. The forum is much more helpful and polite than any other support forum that I have been to...especially for a free product. The success of Mambo has resulted in a huge increase in Mambers...hopefully these new mambers will keep up this helpful atmosphere. :)
