Jan de Graaff from tsmf-mambo.com has released version 0.8 of his Simpleboard forum component for MOS 4.5 today. As always many new features has made it into this version. Here's a short overview
- Avatar Support; User Uploadable and/or from a Gallery, fully Admin Configurable
- Ranking; graphical and textual, fully Admin Configurable
- Icon Set support; easily replace the text links with buttons,
- Improved useability; new topic sorting and more,
- Improved Admin Area; configuring Simpleboard has never been simpler..
I updated the download section to the new version. A detailed update howto can be found if you read on. Here's the link to the filebase:
Upgrade from version 0.7.x
- [optional] Create a new menu item for the Main Menu and make it of type "Typed Content" and name it the same as the link to your Simpleboard
- [optional] As text, put in something like "The forum is down for maintenance, etc.";
- [optional] Publish this menu item and unpublish the one to the real forum. You now have a "Forum Offline notice"
- Backup the 6 mos_sb_* tables. Make sure you backup the data and structure of the tables!
- [optional] Make notes of your Simpleboard configuration from components->Simpleboard->Configuration. You can then easily reconfigure Simpleboard.
-- Don't overwrite the new simpleboard_config.php file with your current one. There are new configuration options you will then overwrite!
- Deinstall the Simpleboard Component;
- Install Simpleboard 0.8;
--You will now have an empty Forum
- Restore the backed up tables;
- In the Admin Area, go to Components->Simpleboard Forum->SB Configuration. You will get a notification that your tables are of an earlier version of Simpleboard.
- Refresh the window
--usually CTRL+R does the trick or use the refresh button
- Go to Components->Simpleboard Forum->Upgrade Tables to 0.8
--Your tables are now automatically upgraded to version 0.8
- Go to Components->Simpleboard->Configuration and update the configuration settings
- Go to Components->Simpleboard->Forum Administration and start administering your Forum.
--Don't forget to publish the Forums or else they wont show in the Frontend!
- [optional] Create a new forum menu item for the Main Menu and publish it.
-- It's recommended to create a new menu item, since the item id will have changed
- [optional] unpublish the "Forum Offline" item you created in the Main Menu
