The 'Core Development Team' lead by Andrew Eddie itself will take over the development of new Mambo versions, which will also include the addition of new features to the CMS. This will include such long awaited features like the assignment of content to multiple categories and sub-categories, improved user access, group management, support for additional database platforms and much more. This teams first release will be Mambo 5.0, which has been announced for mid 2005. Andrew Eddie will release a new roadmap in the next weeks, which will cover these changes in the structure. These changes surely will push Mambo further. It was the right decision not to go for the feature hunt now. This gives all developers and designers the chance to provide high quality CMT's for Mambo 4.5.x. The don't have to fear that a core update will bring large changes. On the other hand a second team will ensure a fast development of future Mambo versions. The full announcement can be found on the official website: |

Andrew Eddie, Mambo's new project manager, announced a few changes in the organisation structure of the development team yesterday. The current development team will be split up in two different teams. The 'Mambo Maintenance Team', which will be lead by Rey Gigataras, will take over the maintance of the actual 4.5.x product line of Mambo. This team will provide bug fixes and security patches, but will not any new features to Mambo 4.5.x. Their first release will be Mambo 4.5.2, which will be released in January 2005.
