MOS 4.5 comes with some new features for a better user management. One of the most interesting things is a new usertype called Editor. Another nice feature is the Mass Mailer and some other small improvements, which I will take a look at in this article:

User Overview at Edit User

When selecting the Edit User menu, you will come to the user overview area. All registered users will be listed here sorted by registration date. New to this section is the possibility to easily search for users name, nickname and email adress. This was a badly needed function. Another small but nice one is the ability to choose how many users are displayed per page.

Edit User or New User

Simply be clicking on the users name (or on New  User if you want to add an user) you can access edit user screen. Here you can easily change all significant user data. New is the possibility to change the users password, which was also needed. In the Usertype selection you can now choose the user to be an Editor (will explained later). By clicking on "Receive submission emails" the user will be mailed, when you use the Mass Mail function.

Mass Mail

In new MOS 4.5 it is now possible to contact all user of your site. The admin section comes with a handy Mass Mailer for this task. Just enter a subject and your message and all user will be mailed with this information.

Usertype Editor

MOS 4.5 supports a new type of user, the Editor. The Editor is a person, which can edit the content of your page. He can post news, write articles and many other things. But he can not access the admin section. All contes which can be edited by the Editor has a small edit symbol in front of the content items title, after he logged in.

The Editors screen

After pressing the edit symbol on your live site, the editor will reach an edit screen which is very similar to the one in your admin section. He can use all the same function like image selection, publishing parameters and meta data. HtmlArea did not work in the version I saw, but I'm sure the dev team will fix this. So you can have others to maintain your site, without giving them access to the admin section. Very cool!
