The following text will give you a brief overview, how the content pages in section categories (called items) will be handled in MOS 4.5. It is almost the same as news entries were made in the old version, but with some nice improvements: The Content Like in many CMS the content of an item is divided in three different parts. A short title, a small introduction and the main story. The same applies to Mambo. On the first page you can enter exactly these things. As all items are categorized you have to choose a category too. New on this page is the possibility to enter the text directly in the textbox using the well known html editor HtmlArea. Popups are gone...
Entering Images The handling of images became a major overwork in MOS 4.5. On a second page all existing images are listed. The user can preview (left) and choose images to appear in the item content. All choosen images are listed in an extra box (middle) where it is possible to change the sorting at the content page. On the right some extra information can be entered for every choosen pic. To insert an image into the content the variable is used. It must be entered (currently by hand) where you want the picture to appear. MOS inserts the images on the display page coresponding to the order choosen in the middle box.
How to publish On the third page you can choose the publishing parameters of the item. Like in the old version you can choose the access level, the ordering and if you want to publish the item in the frontpage or not. A cool new feature is the possibility to give every single item a start and end date. A start date can be used if you are in holidays but want to publish some news. You can write the news days before your holidays and it is autmaticaly published, while you swim in the pool. The end date is usefull for limited actions on your site eg. a special bonus for the first week of a new product.
Own Metadata Every single item can have their specific metadata. On the forth page you can enter a description and some keywords for your item. Other metadata like subject, expiration and versioning are handled by MOS automaticaly for your item.
Some details left On the last page you will find some interesting details about your item. The creation and modification date is logged here. A hit counter shows how many people read your item content.
