Today MamboSolution recalled his MSAS server package which included a ready to run MOS installation on an apache server. Due to the large ammount of traffic the 8MB download produced and a recent bandwith limit exceed, MamboSolutions is now offering the file only for subscribers at his website, which costs 20 USD. |

Now that Mamboportal.com has been moved to the new server, I will start to build a small team, which will make Mamboportal.com even better. The team will contain between 5 and 10 members:
- 3 Editors: They will focus on the content parts of Mamboportal.com, provide news, write articles, review, interviews, etc.
- 2 Uploader: They will upload new files and maintain older entries with access to our FTP server.
- 4 Moderators: They will moderate Mamboportal's forums, close or move topics, make the sticky or remove them.
- 1 CoAdmin: Which will maintain the databases, coordinate the team, AAA, coordinate some new projects.
As Mamboportal.com is no commercial website, I have not much to give. Be sure everyone gets a fully pop3 @mamboportal.com email and the reputation being a Mamboportal.com team member. If you are interested to join us, just contact us with a small bio on you (something like our interviews in the "Who is Who" section). |

This is the first news at our new rootserver. We will start the move to this server during the next hours. The move will have several steps:
- Redirection: You will be redirected to the new server from the existing domain. The url in your browser window will change to an IP adress.
- DNS Update: We will transfer the domain afterwards. If the DNS servers will be updated Mamboportal.com could be down for 24 hours.
- Go Live: After the domain is transfered Mamboportal.com is live on the new server. File section will be open, Forums will be closed.
- Registration period: For at least 7 days after the Go Live the files section will stay open for unregistered users. All users can take their time and register again at the new server. Please do so and don't register at the first day!
Due to the user database wipe, all corresponding forum entries will be gone to. Be sure it rips my heart out too, but having a clear user database is worth it! |

As you might know Mamboportal.com is still hosted on a small shared server. About a month a ago I tried to move to a rootserver, which ended up in a small desaster. Therefore I canceled this server again and searched a new one.
Now I have bought a new server from international 1and1 group. Our new server will be a 3Ghz Pentium 4HT server with 2GB Ram and 120 GB harddisk. The server includes 150 GB traffic and is connected to the new using 12GBit connection speed.
Mamboportal.com will move to the new server during the next week. During this move I will clear the user database as it contains about 20,000 entries right now and a lot are doubles. I will open up the filebase during this period, so there is no need that all of you registering at the first day. |

During the last few months many users asked for moving to a bigger forum solution. I'm currently checking out several forums and have focussed on vBulletin 3, Invisionboard, phpBB 2.2 or Burningboard 2. Currently only Invisionboard and Burningboard are available. vB3 will be released soon and phpBB 2.2 has not even a release date sheduled.
As none of the above is integrated into Mambo, I would be also an option to stay with Simpleboard or switch to phpBB 2.0 for Mambo as both are integrated with Mambo's usermanagement. It would be great to hear your opinion about this. Just punch the vote button or discuss it in the forums... |

Pedro Goncalves, author of the supportcenter component, is currently building up two new website for Mambo. PowerMamber.com will be a low cost subscription membership community for those primarily (but not exclusively) involved or interested in the commercial development and deployment of Mambo on a cooperative basis.
PowerMambo.com will be developed for purely commercial deliveries under one banner with the aim of enabling accepted PowerMambers to be part of that commercial delivery structure. More informations can be found at the corresponding websites. |

Some weeks ago I ordered a rootserver for Mamboportal.com. After some testing with some other website of me, I decided to move Mamboportal.com to the new server this weekend, which ended up in a total desaster...
It seems that Redhat linux cannot handle Mambo's mails. Especially the registration email are causing large problems. Somehow the mails from Mambo are considered as spam and got bounced by a lot servers, which filled up my mailserver with hundreds of bounced mails.
Besides this some smaller problems (like slashes the server adds at will or some errors in the XML installer of Mambo) gave me the rest. So I decided to move back to the old shared server for now. Home, sweet home...
A lot of news are waiting and will be published tommorow to get Mamboportal.com up to date again. So please stay tuned... |

Today Mamboportal.com has started moving. As you might know Mamboportal.com is currently located on a shared webhosting server. During the last months growth this shared server was getting too small for Mamboportal. So I decided to buy a Rootserver, which will only run Mamboportal.com in the future.
To minimize the time Mamboportal.com is unavailable during this move from one server to the other, we will move over to a new domain for a short time. Today the complete filebase has moved to MamboFiles.com and the rest will follow soon. If all goes well we will move the domain Mamboportal.com to the new server and start restoring from MamboFiles.com afterwards. If you encounter any problems during this process, please feel free to contact us wether at Mamboportal.com or over at Konze.de.
Talking about a new server is always talking about money too. I have paid a lot of money for the new server and also bought a hosting for a whole years too. So please if you like Mamboportal.com and all my other development's and design's feel free to support me and donate some money. So if you ever wanted to help me out, this would be the right moment... Thanks! |
